You know you've been working too hard when

We’ve all been there. It’s late into the night, deadlines loom, but that design must be finished off by the morning. As the hours tick by, your concentration wanes and you start making mistakes, losing focus and generally losing the plot. It’s at this point when you realise you’ve been working too hard.

A graphic designer friend of mine recently related a story about exactly this scenario, and it’s possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.

It was 3am and him and his colleague had been working 8 hours straight on an important magazine layout which was already late. It’s a small office and the room was getting stuffy.

Desperate to get some fresh air in he got up from his desk, walked over to the window and opened it. Now, this is Scotland, so it’s never warm outside at the best of times, so upon sitting back down at his desk he quickly realised it was too cold.

So what does he do? Hits Ctrl + Z on the keyboard to undo opening the window!

Now, that’s when you know you’ve been working too hard. Can anybody beat it?

Heh.. that sucks.
It’d be decent when it would work, though.
Like the ever requested search function, when you can’t find your socks in the morning.

HAHAhaha.. yeah.. thats really when we realize we´ve been too much on the keyboards…

Once… i was trying to move files from one computer to another, it was almost 5:00 in the morning.. and i had to get the layout on the laptop… HAHAHAHA

Guess what.. o clicked the file.. and hit crtl+c got to the laptop.. and hit crtl+v .. the thing is.. it took 5 minutes do realize what was the true problem.. that the file didn’t copy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
by the way.. i had no LAN on it.

I just tried to hit Ctrl+S after rearranging the items on my desktop :)

Wanting to hit Ctrl+Z to undo things or seeing everything in ant lines is just some of the effects I get from working too long.

Way back ten years ago, I had a terrifically bright student in my class of 12 year olds… After giving him lots of ‘extras’ in class in the way of Mac time, he told me a great story from home: a glass pitcher fell from his kitchen counter, and as he watched it fall he yelled, “Undo!”

LOL! This is why I can no longer draw on paper.. instead of reaching for an eraser I just think ctrl+z..

sigh You know technology owns you when think in shortcuts.

What? Like you guys never hit Command/Ctrl+shift+U when you send a web form? I know I do all the time!

(It’s a Dreamweaver shortcut for uploading to a web server)
